Heart Of Gold International Short Film Festival
Heart of Gold inspires and connects through short films to celebrate the richness of the human spirit. The short film festival is held at the Gympie Civic Centre from October 3 – 6, and will screen over 120 films, plus workshops, family activities, free events and filmmaker discussions.
With a team of over a hundred volunteers, Heart of Gold has a strong presence in the community. Volunteers get together throughout the year, to review film submissions in screener groups, and also donate their time to assist with the administration in the lead up to the festival. During the festival volunteers fill vital positions as ushers, ticket salespeople, hospitality roles, as well as assisting with setup and pack down, decorating the venue, hosting filmmakers, and driving filmmakers to and from the event.

Relay for Life
Relay For Life is a community fundraising challenge raising vital funds for cancer patients.
Friends, families and colleagues are encouraged to join forces and team up to raise funds in the lead up to their communities Relay For Life event.
Each Relay event is organised by passionate, local volunteers, and is an experience that will stay with you forever. The event brings communities together to celebrate Survivors and recognise the unsung heroes – their Carers. We honour those we’ve lost during our candlelight ceremony, and we continue to raise funds to support people affected by cancer, fund research and prevention programs. Teams commit to walking, rolling or running around a track to signify that cancer never rests, so neither do we.
What are you waiting for? Join the Relay For Life movement today.
During its time in Australia, it has become a most enjoyable dance form for all ages, with club members ranging from under 5 to over 75 years (and some who won’t tell how old they are).
